Anacamptis pyramidalis

Pyramidal Orchid [EN] / Çam Salebi [TR]

I spent last weekend at my father-in-law's orchard. Apart from cultivated fruit trees, there were lots of opportunities for wildlife shots. Here is one of them.

Pyramidal Orchid is named after the arrangement of its flowes. It used to be rather common in Anatolia. There is a spice / soft drink produced from dried tubers of this and several more kinds of orchids sahlep. Due to the uncontrolled gatherings most of orchids now faces extinction in Anatolia.

----

This is original frame, no croppings. Shot with good old plastic fantastic on a tripod. Color balance adjustments, resize and sharpening done with digiKam, some bright spider webs are cloned away from BG with GIMP.

Thanks for stopping by,
Ali

Very nice!

We had them in bloom over two months ago.

Cheers!

Hello Ali,
For an uncropped shot this is great!
The composition and focusing is perfect and the sharpness, lighting and bokeh BG help to present this Pyramidal Orchid in a fine way.
Looks like you father-in-law's orchard is a fine place!
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Ivan

Hi Ali.
Lovely colors of this flower, excellent BG and very interesting note to read.

Next time try a diffrent f stop like f11 and use the flash, compare one from the other and see the diffrence in focus in the frame. (Deep of field)
Luis52.
