| Spermophilus xanthoprymnus (TR: Yer sincabı, Gelengi, ENG Turkish grouns sqiurrel, Souslik): A diurnal rodent species. The biggest population of the species lives in Turkey. Lives in uncultivated steppe areas and mountain slopes. Easily effeted by cultivation and habitat lose because of ploughing. Easily observed in suitable habitats daytime. Because of its day time activity, its an important feed source of day time hunting animals such as raptors, vulpes etc. |

This is a very nice and usual animal to me. I guess that it could be the equivalent of the groundhog that we have here. This is a cute capture with good exposure and it is nice to see it near its habitat. This is a well timed capture! Thanks,
