[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello all friends,
Recently, I have posted several shot from my excursion to North-eastern Turkiye. I uploaded several posts from Armenian border, Ağrı, Iğdır and Kars Province. The province in order is Ardahan. Ardahan is located on the north-eastern corner of Turkiye, as like Artvin and they are in border in Georgia. Ardahan fauna is very rich, athough its high elevation. Most parts of Ardahan located more than 2000 m a.s.l. and after very long period of winter, spring starts and summer almost dosent appear in there. Its rich fauna consists of Euro-Siberian elements. Especially many species from the Caucasus also occurs in Ardahan. Distributions of some of them in Turkiye range in this area, e.g. Prometheomys schaposchnikowi Satunin, 1901 (RODENTIA: CRICETIDAE).
As you know, digital photograph technology improves in recent years and therefore some nature photography web sites were formed in Turkiye too. I am also member for two sites except for TrekNature. Of these, TRAKUS is related with Turkish bird species and their photography. Second one, LepTR is interested in Turkish butterflies. Both of them works as a databank. By these sites, we can also identify species which we cant recognize ourselves.
In last night, I counted butterflies species in my photographes. Now, their number arrived more than 80 species. I can identify some of them, but I am indebted to Professor Olcay Yeğin, Özgür Koçak, Vildan Bozacı, Çağlar Orhan and other members of LepTR for their helps. So, I'd like to dedicate this post to all members of LepTR, with my special thanks.

Lycaena virgaureae (L., 1758) - Orman Bakirkelebegi [TR], Scarce Copper [EN] (LEPIDOPTERA: LYCAENIDAE) is one of usual species on TN. I like them with very beautiful colors.
You see its male on this shot. You can also find two other shots as a Workshop (lateral view of male, female). Its size is 30 to 36 mm and its flight period is June to September. It feeds on the plants of the genus Rumex L., 1753 (CARYOPHYLLALES: POLYGONACEAE).

Hi Ahmet,

I just came in from butterfly hunting - they are rare here. One big black one circled me several times but never settled down. I did get some hummingbirds. It's so nice to come to the computer and find this Scare Copper in a wonderful position with beautiful colors and superb details. The setting, background and composition are all outstanding.

Oldukça güzl bir kelebeği çok başarılı bir şekilde fotoğraflamışsın. Fotoğraf sanatı gözüyle bakarsak herşey yerli yerinde. Belki br adım daha az pozlansa göze daha iyi görünebilirmiş.

Yazında bahsetmiş olduğun siteye ben de üyeyim ve şu ana kadar çok yararlandım. Özellikle yaşadağım il olan Bursa'nın kelebek varığını o site sayesinde bir liste haline getirmeye başladığımı söyleyebilirim.

Öte yandan bu sitenin imkanarını da kullanarak gerek Türkiye'nin florası gerekse faunası için bir theme oluşturulabilir, böylece tek tıkla istediğimiz konudaki hayvan veya bitki varlığını görebiliriz. Ben bu konuda bir theme yaptım, şimdilik sadece kendi fotoğraflarım var. Ama isteyen de oraya ekleme yapabilir. İzninle bu fotoğrafı oraya ekliyorum. Bursa'da çekilmemiş olsa da Bursa'da gördüğüm bir kelebek çünkü.

Great to hear that interest in birds and butterflies is spreading in Turkey! It's after all a country very rich in flora and fauna. This is a lovely view of the male Copper with open wings on the flower. All three are very fine captures but my favourite is the female with open wings! Excellent work!

Fine capture of a male H. virgaureae
When they settle with the wings half open and you take a shot from a dorsal POV, it is hard to get the right DOF, but you have achieved this here.
This is well composed on the yelow flowers and well seen against the neutral BG.

Excellent scene and perfect wingspread ( as well as POV) of the butterfly. I like this amazing combination of fine yellow flowers and orange beauty. Brownish BG is great too and DOF is selected by the best way. Bravo. Well done.
