[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Nannospalax nehringi (TUR: Körfare, ENG: Blind mole rat): Unique totally blind rodent species in the world. It lives almost totally underground gallery systems they dig. Unlike moles, they excavate soil by their teeth and push out excavated soil by the buldozing activity of the head. Tey have no eye opening, external ear and tail. Feeds especially on underground parts of plants and sometimes upper parts. Lives solitarily in its tunnel system. Mating occures after January and gives one birth in a year with 2-6 baby between February and May. Common in Anatolia out of costal mediterranen, costal black sea areas and southeastern Turkey.
