[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
When we come back to Niğde after ten days trip to Ağrı, Ardahan, Iğdır, and Kars provinces, Ferhat showed me three vultures near Tuzluca District (Iğdır). I went out the car and I took some their shots. Unfortunately, it was very closed with dark clouds and so lighting was not good for flying birds. Sometimes such a condition gives to better white balance (exposure).
Well, Neophron percnopterus (Linnaeus, 1758) - Küçük Akbaba, Mısır Akbabası [TR], Egyptian Vulture [EN] (FALCONIFORMES: ACCIPITRIDAE) is the smallest vulture in Turkiye (Turkish name "Küçük" already means "small". Another name has same meaning with English name ["Mısır" = "Egypt"]).
The species is one of four vultures in Turkiye. These vultures are included in the subfamily AEGYPIINAE (Eskidünya Akbabaları = Old World Vultures) and they are;
*** Gypaetus barbatus (Linnaeus, 1758) - Sakallı Akbaba [TR], Lammergeier, Bearded Vulture [EN],
*** Neophron percnopterus (Linnaeus, 1758) - Küçük Akbaba [TR], Egyptian Vulture [EN],
*** Gyps fulvus (Hablizl, 1783) - Kızıl Akbaba [TR], Griffon Vulture [EN],
*** Aegypius monachus (Linnaeus, 1766) - Kara Akbaba [TR], Black Vulture [EN].

Vultures rapidly decline, at least, in Turkiye and Cyprus. Unfortunately, they dramatically extinct in this island. But in Turkiye, they still occurs in some restricted areas. N. percnopterus is the most common for us. I observed this vulture in Oltu (Erzurum), between Kayseri and Sivas, between Niğde and Aksaray, Sertavul Pass between Mersin and Karaman, and lastly in Tuzluca. The Redlist of IUCN is globally listed it as Endangered Species [EN A2abcd+3bcd+4abcd]. Even if, you can also see its photograph on main page of this web site.

This is a nearly perfect capture under difficult conditions; your viewpoint, focusing and composition are very good. I tried to improve your take slightly with some colour and saturation changes but can not upload it as a WS today since my daily quota is full, hope to load it tomorrow, you may even like it!

A species of bird I dream to photograph, whether it is a young adult like this one or juvenile. This in-flight capture of the Egyptian Vulture is sharp and excellently composed in the diagonal fasion a s seen from below.
