[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello my friends,
There are many shots from various animal groups in my files. But I prefer that different group, if possible. I posted a scorpion yesterday. Today, I will add a mammal. Lepus europaeus Pallas, 1778 - Yabani Tavşan [TR], European Hare or Brown Hare [EN] (LAGOMORPHA: LEPORIDAE) is one of the best known mammals in European countries and Turkiye.
Formerly (50 and more years ago), Lagomorphs were accepted from the order RODENTIA. Now, they form separeted order whit synonymy of DUPLICIDENTATA. Their incisor teeth order in two rows. Seconds are shorter and located just behind ones in first rows. Whereas rodents have incisors only in single row.
After this general information, I will write about the story of the photograph. For our (with Ferhat) Kars-Ardahan-Iğdır-Ağrı excursion, we drived to Sarıkamış at the first night. Sarıkamış District is located in west part of Kars Province and its nature is furnished by forests of Pinus sylvestris L. - Sarıçam [TR], Scots Pine [EN] in its most parts. Other areas are steppic. We can see these forests even above 2500 m a.s.l.
In my former trip to Sarıkamış, I can find some Caucasian bats in there. Although its high elevation and very cold climate (50 and more Celcius degrees under zero in winter), its fauna is very rich and most of Boreal (Euro-Siberian) Fauna elements are seen in Sarıkamış.
When we arrived to Sarıkamış, it was very late (near midnight). We didnt find any bats in this time. But we met several rodents (Meriones sp.), foxes (Vulpes vulpes) and hares along road among pine forests. One of them, the hare on photograph gave me several poses on asfalt of the road. I took them from car window by camera on hand, under car light. I didnt used external flash light. Later it started to run fastly in front of the car. I think it continued to run for two kilometres.
Another shot is presented as Workshop. I hope you like them.

I'd like to dedicate this very beautiful animal's shot for two good friends, Leyla Ahmet (yasemin) and Merih Göçmen (cypturk).

Hi Ahmet,
Very nice capture of Brown Hare with good pose and composition, sharp details and good lighting. The colours on this individual are much more beautiful I have seen on the Hares in UK. Lighting has caused a slight problem with red eyes.

Merhaba Ahmet,
A great night-time capture of a European Hare, caught in an excellent pose on the road to show all the features sharply with use of flash. The red-eye is quite acceptable IMHO and it is interesting to see a frontal view in the WS.
Informative note: I had no idea is occurs in the mountains of E. Turkey.
Thanks for sharing this beauty that is a fine dedication to Bayram's sister and cousin.

Hi Ahmet

Great notes as usual and excellent shot of this Hare. I see lots of hares in the fields near me. My granfather taught me a trick - if you wet your lips and nearly close them, then suck air into your mouth so it makes sort of a squeaking noise, the hares come close to you.

Hello Ahmet,
Excellent night-time capture of the European Hare showing its long ears and colours very sharply. I'm glad you didn't run into it which we did once on the way to the airport. It smashed our headlights and we had a real shock. Never mind the car but it is awful to kill an animal on the road.

What a great looking Hare. I have never seen one with red eyes like this! I love the pose - I think he wants to shake hands with you. The ears, face and body are wonderful with excellent colors and details. A nice dedication to Leyla and Merih.

Nice to see you! This animal is a real beauty! I always liked hares; they are aerodynamic with their long legs :)! They are not easy to photograph by being very shy and fast. You were lucky to capture this nice shot. Hares are like Squirrels, when using flash, their eyes turn red :) Details and black background are very nice. Greetings,
