[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
hello my friends,
Today's post is from Nemrut Mountain near Tatvan (Bitlis Prov.) and belongs to beautiful butterfly.
This mountain with a elevation of 2930 m a.s.l. is very interesting with its crater lakes. This volcan sleeps since the last eraption in the year 1441.
Diamater of the crater is about 7 km. Several thermal lakes present inside of the crates. On the other hand, Nemrut Lake is located in the crater. This lake is the biggest crater lake in our country and second biggest crater lake in the world. Many tourists from various parts of the world visit this marvellous places in every years. You can see two photographs of the Nemrut Crater Lake and one of thermal lakes as Workshop.
I wrote some information about the butterfly just below.

Melitaea didyma - Benekli Iparhan [TR], Spotted Fritillary [EN] (LEPIDOPTERA: NYMPHALIDAE).
M. didyma resembles to M. deserticola and M. trivia. It can be recognized by checking under parts of its wings. A light colored part presents on tips of the wings. Upper parts of males are more orange colored. Its wingspan is 30-44 mm.
It ranges in Mediterranean countries and from almost all parts of Europe to China. In Turkiye, it is relatively common all geographic parts.
The species is found from sea level to 2300 m a.s.l. It prefers dry and open grasslands and open areas in forests. You can see them in clusters on edge of small ponds in such a open area.
It flies from April to September, giving two (at least) generations based on climatic conditions.
Its caterpillars feed on plants of the genera Plantago, Veronica, Viola, Scrophularia, Linaria, and Dianthus .

You can find some information on my previous shot of M. interrupta about the genus Melitaea, represented by 12 species in Turkiye.

Today, a couple of fritillaries on TN, great!

This is indeed a fantastic macro capture of the adorable Spotted Fritillary! The sharpness and POV are just wonderful. The shallow DOF works perfect here. The blurred BG is nice and it gives great contrast to the light colored butterfly, however, the yellow flower enhances the beauty of the picture drastically. A wonderful harmony of colors do exists in your composition.

This butterfly is very beautiful poised on the yellow flowers. A wonderful close-up of the Spotted Fritillary showing off his lovely colors and patterns. Details, clarity, background and composition are all superb.

This one is amazing colourded, so vivid tones and so sharp details! Really great picture!
The workshops are also very interesting, termal lakes are very special type of habitat. I do not think that these lakes are important for life of this butterfly but it is always nice to see where such insect can be found :)
