Another interesting "on the water" photo taken by you!
These cormorant sure are a beauty to photograph and you a great job again here.
This is indeed a very interesting action shot...if indeed the mother taught the young one how to catch the under-water prey, you witnessed an incredible phenomenon.
For the tech-talk, i think it's needless to say that the details are again razor-sharp, the colors are wonderful and the exposure is spot-on :)

Oh, I am so envious... I love watching the Great Crested Grebes when I am out fishing. Unfortunately they are very cautious, and when they do pop up nearby, I invariably do not have the camera in my hand. Of course as soon as I reach for it, the grebes dive and come up, a minute or so later, far out in the lake. I've gotten one or two 'ok' shots of adults, but never been able to get one of young that show off the striped markings as well as your photo here.

Lovely composition, good colors and detail. Fantastic that you caught the fish in such detail just as it's being transfered to the youngster. TFS

I've seen a similar scene but the chick was lasy and it was the other parent which was catching back the fish. I couldn't get any decent pic of it.

Very nice shot of the grebe mother teaching her baby how to catch fish. I very much like the supplement text that describes this behavior.

This is one bird I would love to photograph as it is one of the prettiest of the grebe species.

Sorry I have not critiqued this one sooner, there are so many excellent photographers on this site, sometimes it becomes over whelming to keep up with it all. :)

Sorry, but I did not forget my promise. I am just terribly slow in catching up.

Ok, so I missed the chance to congratulate you in time on your 100th posting, but I am sure I can still wish you many more of the same and well done. You have made a very valuable contribution to this site, not only by means of your photographic material, but also through your prolific activities on the critiquing front. This is a whopper at 13,687 which placed you loose hands in front even kicking dust into the eyes of the "old-timers" or the original members who are still active on the site. Highly praiseworthy indeed.

I like this shot of the mother and the dabchick captured in this natural activity. Your notes clearly explain how the mother was teaching this youngster to hunt and to feed. Lesson like these which the juvenile will need to take care of itself in years to come. Lovely interaction indeed. The composition, POV, colours, details, and exposure are all splendid.
