This may be not good quality photograph, but I will present it since it is interesting subject. Scorpions give birth and they carry babies on back. If young dont move from back of their mother after shedding of skin; the mother can eat them.

How many babies on the scorpion?
Up to now, I have posted shots of some scorpion from various genera and families. We have counted various young on scorpions; sometimes more than 50. This is Euscorpius mingrelicus and usually it has 20-30 babies.
The species was described from Batum Province of Georgia [Gürcistan "Mingrelia" ancient name] and it ranges mainly coastlands i.e. Karadeniz [Black Sea], Marmara, Ege, Akdeniz [Mediterranean] regions in Turkiye, but it occurs also in isolated localities and some high mountains in inner sides.
This small scorpion is 2-3 cm in leght and although it has some venom as like all scorpiones, it is not dangerous for humans.
Previously I posted a shot for its endemic subspecies, E. m. ciliciensis (photo) is found along the Toros [Taurus] Mts in Southern Turkiye and it was described from Bolkar Mts above Maden Village (Niğde: Ulukışla) by Birula (1898).

Thanks for visiting.

Merhaba Ahmet dostum,
A fine capture taken from your archive showing the parental care of the female of this small species of Scorpion.
As you say this has not as good technical quality as your more recent shots but it is a valuable contribution to TN to show this behaviour.
Thanks and best regards,
Ivan

Hello Ahmet!
It is always nice to see species which live in the place we can not visit (or we can not find in the wild in our region :>). Very interesting capture, not only because of species, but also because it is a mother with kids :>
Bravo and TFS!
Friendly yours,
Radomir

Hi Ahmet,

How fascinating! Scorpions are common in Arizona but I have never seen a mother with the babies!! It's impossible to count how many there are but there are a lot. Great shot and thank you for presenting such a rare and unusual sight.

Hello Ahmet,
This is a very interesting capture showing how the Scorpion carries her young on her back. Looks like a heavy load!! You say it is not dangerous but I still think I'd keep a safe distance! A very fine documentation.
TFS and regards, Ulla
