[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
When I came back to Niğde from Northern Cyprus [T.R.N.C.], I visited some places in Adana where located in northeastern corner of the Mediterranean Sea. In first day, I went to Tuzla environs with Münir Uçak who is my old student and his father, Şefik. I also observed and took several new species for me: Strena albifrons, Glareola nordmanni, Numenius sp. etc.
In second day, June 2nd, I visited another locality near Tuzla. It called Havutlu which is small town of Adana centrum. My main purpose was to find Halcyon smyrnensis - White-throated Kingfisher. For this, I asked my two good friend who have experience about this specis. Volkan Pek (volkan) and Kürşat Akın (kursatt) told me about their locality. So, I found several kingfishers breed along the channel among thick plantation. Unfortunately I couldnt capture them enough distance. We went to cross point of the channel to Seyhan River by a small boat. There were many Nycticorax nycticorax (Linnaeus, 1758)- Gece Balıkçılı [TR], Night Heron [EN] roosted among tree branches along the stream. One of them presented here to see. I hope you will like it.
Finally, I'd like to write for derivatio nominis of the species. Nytc means "night", corax means "crow" in Latin. The species active especially in dusk and before sunset and its voice looks like a crow's. So, Linnaeus (1758) called it with this name.
But he put it in the genus Ardea in that time. It is very beautiful bird with red iris of eyes and long furnish feutures on neck and also black back and greyish wing and venter.

A beautiful in-flight shot!!! Superb lighting, colors, and details. I love the position of the wings. The face is wonderful with the lovely catchlight in the eye. Beautiful composition in the perfect blue sky.

Impressive at highest range image of the wonderful bird. You managed to freeze an amazing pose and moment.
