Eumeces schneiderii pavimentatus (Schneideri’s White-striped Skink) (A Portrait)

The portrait of pavimentatus was photographed from a captured female specimen during our trips to SE Anatolia. The subspecies is distributed in Mersin (Icel), Adana, Antakia (=Hatay) (the western parts of Amonos Mts) provinces in Anatolia to Israel along the Meditterranean ecozone, including Sinai, Syria and Jordan.
It typically has white interrupted longitudinal stripes on body.
It is one of the largest skink, with well-developed limbs and not reduced fingers. It is also the largest lizard, reaching a maximum length of around 35-40 cm, exceptionally even more. Original tail is around 1.5 times SVL; many individuals posses a shorter regenerated tail. The range of the species or species/subspecies group extends from N Africa, Anatolia, Cyprus Island to W and Middle Asia with a vertical distribution to 1800 m.

The other detailed information of the species was given in another (-whole-) capture of the species) from Ceyhan (Adana province). Thus, no more additional knowledge is present here.

Hello Bayram,
another fine image of the skink. Your speed of posting is so high, I have to save more time to comment them all. This one is also a fine picture with sharp details on the skink. I know skinks only from southern France and the iberian peninsula. There they were so fast I couldn't take a normal picture of them.
Is there a guide like amphibians and reptiles of turkey? It would be great to get an overview of the species in your beautiful country

Very effective close-up of this skink Bayram, it demonstrates that longitudinal yellow stripe on the flank rather nicely, also the interrupted white longitudinal stripes on the dorsum, which resemble a similar design of Chalcides ocellatus. It would be good to give some information on the lighting conditions, I think.

The detail is impeccable and I can really get a sense of the smooth scales... they almost look like a fish's scales!
