Laudakia stellio daani (Daan's Hardun, Spiny Lizard) #2

A middle-sized agamid lizard with a moderately depressed body. Total length reaches up to 35 cm, or slightly longer. The flat and triangular head is covered with asymmetrically distributed small scales and plates. The dorsum is covered with small and large scales. The tail is moderately depressed in its proximal part; the distal part is rounded or slightly oval in cross-section. The scales of the tail are arranged into distinct circular segments, each consisting of two whorls of enlarged spiny scales. The coloration is extremely variable, depending on race, sex, age and substrate.

Detailed information on this species was given in my previous posting. L. s. daani is distributed in SW Aegean islands and SW Turkey and it generally resembles the nominotypic form (L. s. stellio) but it is darker and has a bluish-grey head and body. The chin shows a clear spotted pattern.

Today, I would like to dedicate this posting to our friend in TN, James PARKER (Jamesp) for his kind interest my herpetological captures! Thank you James!

Dünkü resime bunu tercih ediyorum Bayram, taşlarla verilen poz hayvanın doğasına iyi uymuş, demek bizim "kütük" her zaman işe yaramıyor! Hardun'a gelince, her bakımdan nefis olmuş.
