Montivipera albizona (Anatolian Diagonal Mountain Viper)

The maximum is a little less than 78 cm (for a male), although most specimens are smaller. The head is relatively large and distinct from the neck. The snout is rounded and covered with small, keeled scales. The color pattern consists of a grayish ground color. Running along the midline from the back of the head to the tail is a series of about 30 transversed and pronounced white- and black-edged narrow bands separated by a brick-red brown zone 3-4 scales long and 9-12 scales wide. Lateral spots may be small and in a double series. There are usually two large black, oblique spots on top of the head, as well as a dark stripe running from the corner of the eye back to the angle of the mouth or beyond. The belly is grayish and finely speckled with darker spots. This species is distributed along the Anatolian Diagonal between Kahramanmaras and Sivas provinces at high elavations (above 1000 m). Endemic species for Anatolia.

resmi ilk görünce dedim ki "Allah'tan doktoranı herpetolojide yapmamışsın, yoksa hızına zor yetişilirdi":)
çekimlerin giderek daha da güzelleşiyor. açısı, netliği, renkler ve kompozisyon güzel. diğer konuda ısrarlısın (bilirim inadım inat dediğini). eline sağlık, sağlıcakla kal. selamlar.

Hello Bayram,

Hola Bayram,
An excellent "striking" pose of out viper friend in great detail and fine composition. Our faithful "woodwork" nicely complements the natural colors of this fellow and your "words" are again a sore for our tired eyes.
Mehmet

How a magnifienct pose of this montane viper. Under knowing eyes and looks it seems very harmless and sleepy animal. Thanks for the information also

Hello Bayram!
This is very interesting and not known for me species of snake. I like POV and details.
By the way, I saw your web page, it is interesting that as person specializing in Ciliata you are working also with amphibians and reptiles :)
Best greetings,
Radomir

PS. As soon as I find more free time I will write much more comments to your interesting pictures :)
