Asaccus elisae (=Phyllodactylus elisae) (Leaf-toed Gecko)

A nocturnal-terrestrial, medium-sized (SVL up to 5.7 cm) with a maximum total length of about 12.5 cm, relatively slender gecko with long and slender digits. At the tips of digits there are two flattened-expanded scales and a claw between these. The construction of the tip of fingers resembles a leaf. Scales across supraorbital region coarse, as are those of snout; tubercles of dorsum, limbs, and tail large, length of individual tubercle more than 64% of ear diameter; 8—14 longitudinal rows of enlarged dorsal tubercles; 10-12 large tubercles across rear of head between ears; tail tubercles arranged in whorls; subtibial scales coarse; digital scansors not extending well beyond claws; phalanges in fourth toe reduced to 4; tail tip laterally compressed; subcaudal series of expanded scales not reaching vent area anteriorly; tail has a series of dark transverse bars that extend ventrally.

Ground color usually dark brown with 0-5 darker brown dorsal crossbars, sometimes dorsum light tan with crossbars broken into dark spots; each tubercle usually tipped with white, giving freckled appearance to color pattern; tail with five brown to black bands and five white bands, each equal width; venter whitish.
Feeds on primarily spiders and winged ants, occasionally beetles. Additionally, there are some reports that it also hunts ants, mosquitos, roaches, and other arthropods.

It is distributed in the Mesopotamian Plain, southern Turkey, eastern Syria, Iraq, and southwestern Iran.

In Turkey, known from the Sanliurfa [along with the Euphrates from Çiçekalan (Birecik) to Halfeti, and the vicinity of Harran] and Mardin provinces.
Specimens from Sanliurfa collected by us, were found in caves and on cliff faces along the Euphrates river, and calcareous wadies of Birecik. Some specimens was also collected from the house walls in Çiçekalan village.

Bayram nefis bir tür ve sıra dışı güzel bir netlik. Hayvan işini kolaulaştırmak için kuyruğunu katlamış, yoksa kadraja almak zor olacak. Paylaşımın için teşekkürler, Selamlar
Mustafa

And hi once again :)
And once again a species not known for me before. Interesting object and informative note. Anyway, DOF would be a little better as for me, but it is still an interesting presentation :)
By the way, how many gecko species are known from Turkey?? This number is really big I believe :)
Best withes,
Radomir

Bayram Hocam yine harika netlikte bir Yaprakparmaklı Keler görüntüsü. Teşekkürler. Elinize sağlık.

Tek kelime sizi ve çekimlerinizi anlatmaya yeter sanırım hocam. mükemmel!. Teşekkürler.

Well, another of my favourite reptiles Bayram, you must be reading my mind! This really is a beautiful rendering of this phantomaceous gecko, but in another post you should present the TN followers with a lateral aspect of the head, so they can appreciate the structure of the huge eye fully.
Mehmet

Hi Bayram

Excellent composition. I really like the sinous form of the gecko you have captured here. Very good detail too.

Hello Bayram,
You really have a fantastic collection of Lizards to show us. This is an excellent capture showing all parts sharply. I like the little heart-shapes on the fingertips! Strange black stripes on the tail too. Does this one change colour too as you say the ground colour is usually dark brown? Very interesting note too.
Many thanks and regards, Ulla

Selam Hocam çekim çok güzel. Elinize sağlık. Keşke Kıbrıs'ta da bu türden olsaymış. Nefis bir keler. Teşekkürler.

Hi Bayram,

You are giving me an education - I didn't know there were so many different geckos. This is a wonderful shot and the feet really do look like a leaves. Amazing colors - I have never seen a pink one here. Wonderful details and once again a fantastic position to show the whole thing off.
