[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These dragonflies were taken famous Ihlara Valley near Aksaray Province. They are belong to Calopteryx splendens (Harris, 1782) amasina Bartenev, 1911. This subspecies occurs in Akdeniz (Turkish Mediterranean), Ege (Aegean), Marmara, Western Karadeniz (Black Sea) and also northern side of Central Antolia.

The genus name "Calopteryx" is derivated from the words "calo: beautiful" and "pteryx: wing". Probably this name refers males with their great colored wings.
Darker was male, lighter two individuals (below) were females. They are a member of the family Calopterygidae of dragonflies (Odonata). C. splendens is represented in Turkiye by fallowing subspecies;
     C. s. amasina Bartenev, 1911
     C. s. intermedia Sélys, 1887
     C. s. mingrelica Sélys, 1869
     C. s. waterstoni Schneider, 1984

Photograph was taken late afternoon under sun.
I hope it will be acceptable. Thanks.

Hello Ahmet,
This is a beautiful capture of the male C. splendens, in the company of two females. The male and his neighbour are pretty sharp, the colours are good, the BG excellent and the composition very pleasing.
TFS and best regards, Ivan
