[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello my dear friends,
Finally, spring is coming back in Niğde with continental climate and altitude of app. 1200-1300 m a.s.l.
At noon of today, I visited Bucakçayır point, located in suburban area of Niğde City, which I posted formerly many shots from there. It was sunny and about 20 Celcius degree. Grasses were not yet in green, but there were some signal on branches of willow and poplar trees which start to come into leaf.
Most importantly, I also observed that Passer montanus (Linnaeus, 1758) - Ağaç Serçesi [TR], Tree Sparrow [EN] newly started courtship. There was a small old bridge, made by cutten stone, in lenght of c. 10 m. Sparrows form their nests among upper stones of the bridge.
Actualy, this species is newly recorded in Niğde province by me in last autumn. It is not common here. I can find them only in this point, I told above.
It is one of the four species of the genus Passer Brisson, 1760 in Turkiye. Other species are;
** Passer domesticus (Linnaues, 1758) – Serçe [TR], House Sparrow [EN],
** Passer hispaniolensis (Temminck, 1820) – Söğüt Serçesi [TR], Spanish Sparrow [EN],
** Passer moabiticus (Tristram, 1864) – Küçük serçe [TR], Dead Sea Sparrow [EN].
Of these, I uploaded a capture of P. domesticus (click the link). As for P. hispaniolensis, I established firstly for Niğde in this week. They roosted in redbeds of Akkaya before the dusk in nowadays. I took their several photographs. But they are not good quality since low light of dusk. I hope that I will manage better shots and I will add them to TN in future days.
P. montanus can be identified from other species by its large dark spot on face.
Finally, I will write several words also for derivatio nominis of P. montanus. Its Turkish and English vernacular names are in same meaning. However the scientific name is different with meaning "mountain sparrow" ["passer" [L.]: a sparrow and "montanus" [L.]: mountaineer from "mons" [L.]: mountain].

Good capture of this rare species Ahmet, the "trademark" on the face very prominent, also the rest of its details. Its coloration matching perfectly that of the background. Well done my friend.

A very good capture of this sparrow.
I like it's pose ,lovely eye contact.

Lovely capture of the Tree Sparrow in a fine pose while clinging on to the wall. Sharp focus on the eye and fine details and colours.
