Three states of the opuntis ficus-indica flower.

from Wikipedia:

Opuntia ficus-indica (Indian Fig Opuntia) is a species of cactus and a long-domesticated crop plant important in agricultural economies throughout arid and semiarid parts of the world. Indian Fig Opuntia is grown primarily as a fruit crop, but also for the vegetable nopales and other uses. Most culinary references to the "prickly pear" are referring to this species. The name "tuna" is also used for the fruit of this cactus, and for Opuntia in general (according to Alexander von Humboldt, it was a word of Haitian origin taken into the Spanish language around 1500).

Cacti are good crops for dry areas because they efficiently convert water into biomass. Opuntia ficus-indica, as the most widespread of the long-domesticated cactuses, is as economically important as corn and tequila agave in Mexico today. Because Opuntia species hybridize easily (much like oaks), the wild origin of Opuntia ficus-indica (or even whether it has a single origin) is hard to be certain about, but Opuntia was eaten by humans at least 9000 years before the present.

Hello Sayat,

Three always makes good composition!
Good details and I do like how we have the flowers at differnt stages of development.

I would have liked you to have taken a few steps to the right so that you could have captured the flowers on a diagonal plane receding into the distance. In that way you would have had a much more interesting composition and given a good sense of perspective.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

The colour is very stunning. Beautiful capture. Excellent sharpness and details.
Best wishes,
Achim

Hi Sayat.
May be composition and POV are really disputable but I like the shot very much. You managed to reflect all beauty of the plant and flowers on different stage. Details and colours are amazing. DOF is selected very well. A bit blurred BG is looked perfectly too. In a word, very nice picture. My best wishes.
Alexei.

Hi Sayat,
Beautiful presentation of three stages of the same flower on a single stem.

nice show of 3 stages of the flower, I like eating the fruits in summer, TFS Ori

Bonjour Sayat,

Anne
