[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I noticed this beautiful little spider while hunting down a much larger black spider. The name 'lady bird' spider relates to the beautiful colored adult male.

In Turkey I spotted three of these on my travels. My search on the internet for this spider tells me that this kind is classified as Endangered in the Uk:-

Until the late 1920s the species was recorded from several sites in Dorset but it was then thought to have become extinct in Britain. Although was rediscovered in 1979, it is known from only a single site, in Wareham Forest, where the exceedingly small population is less than 300 adults.

This is slowly increasing but the population remains vulnerable. There are likely, but unconfirmed records from Kynance Cove in Cornwall, the Undercliffs of the Isle of Wight, and Kirkby Moor in Lincolnshire. It is rare and apparently declining in northern Europe (Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Sweden) and otherwise occurs only in areas of the Alps and the Pyrenees.

Exposure Time: 1/125 sec
F-Stop: f/10.0
ISO Speed Ratings: 100
Focal Length: 55/1 mm

This is a lovely spider Stephen. I have never seen it before. I would really love to see this critter in real life. The details seem a bit soft but not distracting. Very well done.

Hi Stephen, this is a beautiful spider. Your shot showing it nicely. Nice colours and composition. A bit soft focussed, but with the kit lens it's a great work.
Well done.

Stephen, maybe (and just maybe) focus is a little soft, but that's a minor nit.

I like colors and composition a lot.

Great pov and contrast.

I am very, very jealous. These are such a rarity here and I've never seen one. What sort of habitat did you find your spiders in?

I'd love to see one of these and am thinking about a trip to Turkey! :-)

Lovely shot of this beautiful spider. The female is all-black and bigger. The males aren't around for long. Very well done.
