MERHABA DOSTLARIM,
After around ten days I'm again with you, sharing your wonderful postings posted during my absence.
My present post is again on one of my favourite gastropod shells, that of a Tulip Shell, in more scientific terms a Fasciolaria (Murex) trapezium of moderate to shallow warm seas, which I had posted an apertural aspect before. Now, I would like to display the same shell from a body whorl aspect which is opposite to its aperture. The fusiform shape of the shell is more evident here, in life the moderate spire would be sharply pointed, but the tip of the apex of this specimen is slightly eroded. It is also easier to observe here the quite visible and characteristically a little constricted suture between the whorls, which make the obtusely pointed strong whitish knobs on the whorl shoulders more prominent. The usually paired, finely incised spiral lines on the whorls make this a handsome shell indeed! Again, no periostracum is evident on this weathered shell. The extension on the lower right is the covering of the longish siphonal canal, which is perfectly visible from the apertural aspect of the shell.
This macro shot was taken under direct ambient daylight with open shade conditions to provide diffused illumination, a dark BG was utilized.

iyi geceler hocam, selamlar.

Merhaba Mehmet,

Hi Mehmet,

As always you present us with another wonder of the power of nature. This Tulip Shell is stunning, excellent detail and colours, and so well presented, t.f.s

Cheers Rick :)

Hello Mehmet,
I like it when the shell is weathered or eroded. Then it's not only a beautiful shell but also a shell with some kind of history.
The paired reddish lines are very beautiful in this Tulip shell.
So, thanks for sharing it.

I do remember my dad collecting these as same...but even in real life they didn't look as good as you image...In mine I did as a child would as told...put it up to the ear to hear the ocean... fantastic image added to your ever expanding gallery of genius work in the field!

Merhaba Mehmet dostum,
Great use of ambient light in this presentation of Fasciolaria trapezium to show us the pattern lines and growth lines at their best. The black BG is ideal for emphasising the subject.
It strikes me as I look at this shell that shells are among the few living things that display their growth lines without having to cut or dissect.
Cok tesekkür ederim,
Ivan

Hi Mehmet. I have just seen Bayram's dedication to you and he captured the shell well for the dedication. You have done well with this fine texture and details in bright color and the muted background. TFS and best regards. Jusnio

Merhaba and Salam Mehmet,
this shape is plenty in my place. I have a few arrange in my reading room but not as beautiful as this one. but the one with beautiful lines and textures is not yet seen by me.
Splendid use of light to emphasis its beauty and texture.
