I stole some summer days from the end of October. Weather was perfect, warm, sunny and calm, and the sea was great (though a bit cold). In Turkey we call this "Pastirma Yazi" known in English as "Indian Summer"

This one is taken again in one of my favorite places in Turkey; Dilek peninsula-Great Menderes Delta National Park.

Buyuk Menderes Delta, Turkey: The Buyuk Menderes River meanders for 500 km through western Turkey before reaching the Aegean Sea with a large delta, consisting of several lagoons, extensive salt steppes and mudflats (the biggest in Turkey). This area holds up to 1000 avocets, 3000 cormorants, 15000 flamingos, and 32000 coots in the winter.

To the north the delta is bordered by the steep hills of Dilek peninsula, a craggy, mountainous piece of land jutting out to the Aegean sea, with pristine coves and bays, and remote Mediterranean forests and scrub. This is the home of the Bonelli’s eagle (1-2 pairs), olive-tree warbler, ruppel’s warbler, krueper’s nuthatch, cinereous and Cretzschmar’s buntings.

Dilek Peninsula and Büyük Menderes Delta National Park (27,675 ha.) are important for their intact habitat, maquis communities, and high ratio of Euro-Siberian elements and wildlife; this area is also an IBA

*Indian Summer:
Indian summer is a name given to a period of sunny, warm weather in autumn, not long before winter. Usually occurring after the first frost, Indian summer can be in September, October, or early November in the northern hemisphere, and March, April, or early May in the Southern hemisphere. It can persist for a few days or extend to a week or more. This term is not related to the summer season in India.

The dates between which Indian summer can be said to occur are necessarily inexact because of variations in climatic patterns throughout each hemisphere.

Modern ideas on what an Indian summer constitutes vary, but the most widely accepted value for determining whether an Indian summer is occurring is that the weather must be above 21°C (70°F) for seven days after the autumnal equinox.

Hi Selen. Really neat capture with such pristine details. The dried leaves with the contrasting dead wood placed well in the fg against the beautiful sky and traces of white cloud. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Dear Selen,
You have composed an excellent photograph of the drift wood naturally placed in the foreground of a beautiful untouched water body visible till horizon in clear weather condition. I appreciate you calling it an Indian Summer. TFS.
Regards-Subhash

This image is sheer abstract art, Selen.
Those driftwood shapes in the foreground are fantastic.
I have enjoyed this image immensely, so thank you for sharing it.

I most certainly looked for some kind of filter used on this...and filters have been the mainstay of quality film photographers for a hundred years so it is a very cool way to present...and then add on the wide angle...voila! You have a winner....but then you rarely if ever post anything which would be less...
Bob

Hi Selene,
Beuatiful composition and CPL has broughtout dark blue sky and saturated the drift wood colours. Great shot, TFS

Hy Selen
I would call this picture "l'ete indien", thinking at Joe Dasin song. But, anyway, excellent inspiration in choosing this old and dried tree or tree roots. True art from dead things.
All the best, Oana

buen pov y detalles...
fino trabajo y encuadre.

Hi Selen

I see you've had a bit of extra summer there, too :)
Here we've also had incredibly high temperatures for this time of the year, but i was't so lucky as to be able to take advantage of them outside the city :(

This is a lovely shot, with a very dramatic and attractive composition! The textures in the FG are terrific and lead the eye to that amazing tree. It's "skin" and color contrast so well with the BG and you made sure you'd have a lot of that, with your low POV here.
I have mixed feelings about the other tree - on the right; it's perhaps a bit distracting and so i made a workshop and cloned it out. The picture might be a little "empty" without it, but remember it's only an experiment :)

Anyway, wonderful work!
Bravo and TFS

A great shot with highly exaggerated perspective Selen, thanks to your wide angle lens. That sand and wind polished driftwood looks like a modern sculpture, with those fall leaves in the FG providing fine contrast. TFS this fine image and wonderful composition my friend.

Hi Selen,
This is a real stunner. I love the shape and texture of the old roots. They create such a strong shape that it is still beautiful eventhough its life must have been great as well. You can see clearly that time and water have smoothened the tree and gave it this wonderful cruved shape. They way you not only showed the roots but also the seascape around it is wonderful. And what a seacape it is, it seems to be a relaxed and serene area.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Selen,
Outstanding shot which looks so artistic. That tree trunk looks so interesting in shape and form and the blue sky acts as a fabulous backdrop to highlight the subjects. Superb handling of natural lighting and I like the FG rocks and the sprinkling of colours leaves. Very attractive image.
Excellent DOF, POV and composition.

Merhaba my old friend Selen,
Selamlah!!
How are you! thank you for this beautiful Indian summer over the Delta!
Excellent fg interest of the summer feel and a great view towards the far horizon!
you cpl really done you a great job on the saturation of colours!
take care and will be seeing your next postings after this one!
your friend Tony!

This is a very nice shot, your composition is very effective. Those lines in the rock create a lot of depth in the photo, this is a very natural shot. It could be a tad bit brighter with some more contrast, but that is my opinion. I will create a workshop to show you what I mean.
