Well I hope some may find this post interesting if not for the bird itself it allows us to see the size of its nest.

While stopping at a restaurant with a coach party on are way to the Dalyan river, I noticed this huge nest in the distance. Even though my zoom was at maximum a tight crop just allows us to see a White Stork. There was quite a few of these birds in this region.

Nests are huge and bulky, constructed of branches and sticks and lined with twigs, grasses, sod, rags, and paper. Particularly old nests have grown to over 2 m in diameter and nearly 3 m in depth. Some nests have been in continuous use for hundreds of years.

My gosh, it's taken up so much of the tree. Did they get a building permit for it? :-)

Very interesting shot Stephen. A very large nest indeed. By having the Stork in the shot you get a really good idea of the actual size. Good work.

Amazing capture Stephen! Looking at thumbnail I was sure that there was cloudy patternef sky on BG. And now I see BG made from trees or bushes. Incredible! Composition is excellent, same as DOF. As always on your pictures!

Hello Stephen,

Wow!! This bird chose a HIGH spot to build it's nest!!

I really like the way you're presenting this Storks nest. You've included the whole, gigantic tree rather then to just zoom in on the nest. I really like that as it something different. The photo does seem to be a bit hazy. I will try to do you a quick ws when I get home from the office. I also like the frame a lot. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

What a sight, Stephen. I had no idea the stork's nest was THAT huge! Very interesting. Though taken from far away, it is a very impressive shot. The tree is rather photogenic, and the OOF background gives a wonderful pattern to complement the lines of the tree and nest. Very well done. TFS. : )

A great offering Stephen with a great view! Well done.
