[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I photographed this beautiful insect while in Turkey. I know the quality is not the best but it is quite unusual I think so il share it with TN. Iv posted another shot in WORKSHOP which was out of frame.

I took eight shots of this insect but because of space I had to delete six of them, not sure If I kept the right ones :(( Sorry but I cant find any info on the Internet for this.

P.S. I am having trouble with my Internet connection which seems to be hardware related so I may be late with my critiques tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing, interesting insect.

Good shot! I think you've chosen reasonably well, although there's a little overexposure on the flowers the insect itself is well exposed. Focus is spot on, although I think a little more DOF would have been ideal - but obviously you were struggling for light as it was. I might be tempted to try a more radically diagonal composition. Anyway very nicely captured :-D

Even with the difficulties this photo is lovely, and of such an unusual subject that it makes any problems small. The stark black and white looks lovely with the green and brown background. And I love the frame, I think it works perfectly. I also really like the diagonal presentation, well done. TFS with us!

Great shot!
I saw this insect in Portugal too and I have some pictures, but not with this quality!
5*!

Hi Stephen!
Superb shot. Just wonderful - great colours, superb form!

This is a great shot, I like how it has 'two tails'. very interesting, nice POV also, it seems to lose focus a bit on one of the wings, but is a great shot in all. Another good shot!

It's crisp clear image of this insect.
Nice compo with tiny little white flowers. It matches very well with white patches of the insect.
Only worry is this messy looking BG.
Well Done.

Breathtaking picture Stephen! Insect is just amazing!

Stephen,
Very nice shot, DOF could be better (may be increase ISO to 400, reduce speed to 1/60 and you win 2 stop).
Nice composition.
TFS, Laurent

Hello Stephen,

This is just a beautiful insect! The long wingtails are amazing. Well exposed and very strong composition. Sharp details. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

What an amazing butterfly, I've never seen one like this before. Hope someone IDs it for you.
Considering your difficulties in the field, I think you've done quite well. Whilst there are some minor technical issues, its a most unusual form and well worth posting.

Hi Stephen, very good capture of the Nemoptera. This is not a butterfly but a relative of lacewings and antlions. Nice details and composition.
Well done.

Hi Stephen, I'm glad you did post it. It's a great looking insect and I've never seen any members of this order. A little OE on the flowers but that's all. Good shot.

DOF and POV are spot on. Excellent capture.
