Upupa epops (Hoopoe, Eurasian hoopoe) [in Turk. İbibik, Çavuş Kuşu, Hüthüt]

Yesterday, the wheather was rainy here and heard the singing of this beauty. I took my camera and gone to our Botany garden. As you can see, i could success to photographing it:) Hope you can like this shot!

The Hoopoe (family Upupidae, order Coraciiformes) slightly larger than a thrush, with a long, thin, slightly downward-curving bill and a bright pinkish-buff crest tipped with black that expands into a fan shape on top of the head. The wings and tail are banded with black and white, and the rest of the plumage is buff-coloured. The hoopoe is found throughout southern Europe and Asia down to southern Africa, India, Malaya. This bird is the ‘lapwing’ mentioned in the Old Testament.

Great picture of this beautiful bird - I wish I could see one of them some day ! I like how the orange bird stands out gainst greyish and colorless BG, very nice contrast. His pose is wonderful, too. Even with rain, you managed to bring home a great picture, my friend ! Very well done !

This is one of my favorite birds! I was lucky enough to see them in India and have loved them ever since. A wonderful pose on the tree. The face, crest and beak are wonderful.

Hi Bayram. A good picture of the Hoopoe .You have done well with the poor light you had and the rain. You still have good detail and colour. I might have used F8 to keep the branches in focus, well done TFs. Interesting notes from you .Nick..

Looks like you've acquired a new camera since I was there in Februray. Good result amongst the tangled foliage. This is a great species, I saws them in Thailand and Egypt.
