With this nice BG you show the colourful bfly very clearly.
You were so lucky to find this fellow with complete wings. Often they are ready for photos with broken wings.

A newly individual because it has bright colors yet.
The specie is an Iphiclides podalirius (Linnaeus, 1758), form the Papilionidae Papilioninae family.
In Portugal we have the Iphiclides feisthamelii (Duponchel, 1832), similar but not the same specie.

Bonjour Joseph,
J'aime beaucoup ce papillon que je n'avais jamais vu auparavant.
Son envergure est vraiment impressionnante, surtout le bord arrière des ailes qui est très prolongé.
La lumière est très belle et met bien en valeur les couleurs noir, blanc et rouge du papillon.
Bravo !

Great shot, the detail and framing are just right. You can tell with this guy that he’s in defence mode, from the thumbnail you would never guess he’s a butterfly.

This is one of the most striking photos of this Papilionid. although the butterfly is not as sharp as a razor I realy can't say I have seen a better one than this.
