White-Winged Black Tern - Chlidonias leucopterus
Tr.Ak Kanatlı Sumru, En. White-winged Black Tern, Da. Hvidvinget Terne, Du. Witvleugelstern, Fi. Valkosiipitiira, Fr. Guifette leucoptère, Ge. Weissflügelseeschwalbe, It. Mignattino alibianche, No. Hvitvingesvartterne, Sp. Fumarel aliblanco, Sw. Vitvingad tärna

Only in summer do these birds look truly white-winged when groups of them patrolling over a marsh can give quite dazzling displays of black-and-white. A Black Tern can sometimes seem to have a pale leading edge to the wing but only in the White-winged Black Tern is this truly and extensively white and highlighted even more by black underwing coverts and a brilliant white rump. At the end of the breeding season, the moulting adults can be most easily told by the obvious remnants of black under the wing-coverts and the juveniles stand out because of their almost solidly black mantles which give a neat saddle effect. Compared with a Whiskered Tern, the wings have more contrasting pale and dark areas and the rump is always whiter. The overall impression is therefore of a more black and white bird than either Black or Whiskered Tern. At rest, notice how the head, and especially the nape, shows more white than on other 'marsh terns', with just a black lobe extending down from the crown to the ear-coverts.
Breeds on freshwater marshes.
A vagrant, with roughly 20 birds found each year during the spring, summer and autumn. Most birds occur in the south and east of England, with occasional birds in the Midlands and further north. 691 records up to the end of 1995.
Breeds in eastern Europe and Turkey at specific sites such as the Hortobagy (Hungary), the Biebrza Marshes (Poland) and the Danube Delta (Romania). Present at a greater number of sites on passage but still mostly confined to eastern Europe.
7-10,000 pairs, mostly in the Ukraine

Great shot. But, the water seems so calm (extremely calm in fact) but the reflection is not. Therefore, we can realize that the water is altered in photoshop or something. And the alteration was too much I think. It's ok as long as you mention what you did with it. Also, right side of the reflection, around the wings, we can see the alteration (burn tool, blur, something) In general, colors, composition, framing is very good.
Best Regards,
Alp

Very cool reflection shot, Kazim, and beautiful capture.
I like the simple composition and limited color palette.
Gives the picture an abstract feel. Well done and TFS. : )
