Hyles euphorbiae - Spurge Hawk-moth

Wingspan 55-75 mm.

A sporadic migrant to southern England from south Europe, there are only a handful of recent records, with at least one record of a caterpillar. In the 19th century, it bred several times on the south coast, usually on Spurge (Euphorbia spp.).

The adult resembles the more frequent Bedstraw Hawk-moth (Hyles gallii), but has a distinctive rosy tinge to the underside, as well as more solid-looking markings on the upperwing.

The larvae are quite variable but always spectacular.

The most likely time of occurrence is between July and October.

Merhaba Inanc... nice and spectacular macro...

I like it a lot: composition, POV, DOF, focus, sharpness, color, background, framing.

I like it: lighting, frame (something thick), notes.

I don't like it: the lack of the values of the image.

Good presentation.
Greetings... Ricardo

Hi Inanc, What a great picture, with superb colour. You've done a great job of capturing the caterpiller, and in fact 3 of them in great focus. Your use of depth of field has blurred the tail end of these caterpillers, but makes the heads stand out even better.
