It is very unusual to get picture of a Little Grebe fishing! So there's no problem with the quality of the picture... Sometimes the picture is well done only by capturing the subject in a very special moment/behavior... The water in the air gives dynamism and drama to the picture! And look at the size of the fish in comparison to the size of the bird... Not so small eh!

This is a bit af excellent timing caught in difficult difficult circumstances and pretty sharp considering the ISO 800 and 1/100 sec.
This Little Grebe must have had some difficulty in swallowing this large fish.
I wonder if you got a shot of that struggle?

Me gusta el efecto del agua y el punto de vista del ave con su presa recién pescada.
El fondo de la escena tal vez no sea ideal, pero no desmerece la belleza de la escena principal.

I like the effect of the water and the point of view of the bird with their recently fished prey.
The bottom of the scene perhaps is not ideal, but not be unworthy of the beauty of the main scene.

The timing here is impeccable: not only you managed to catch the bird with a big fish in ti's beak, but you also have that fantastic splesh of the fish's tale there, so well visible!

Hi Şebnem

Quick bird + slow fish = great posting from you. Obviously the little fish was not going without a wee bit of struggle as is evident by the splash it created.

The shortcomings in the technical aspects of this photo are by far outweighed by the rare action you have captured here. You also had to overcome difficult circumstances and after all you did really well.

I would balloon this blurb up from this grebe's beak, Sebnem. There is a touching story there in this situational image.
I can "feel" the flash of time between the 'moment to kill' and the 'moment to eat' in that momentous explosion of water that you have frozen into eternity in this great image.
This is where your genius as a photographer becomes more than manifest.
It is a powerful image, Sebnem. Hats off to you!

Considering the conditions you were shooting this picture and considering the not too fast shutterspeed and the very high ISO speed of 800, I think you did very well Sebnem. I have only one nit and that's the fact that the eyes are too dark and lifeless. Other than that this is a very nice photo. TFS!
