[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello,
Another of those corals I found in Khorfakkan…the first one with notes on Corals was presented earlier.

I found this resembled the side view of a Dog’s Head…You will notice his nose first...to some it may also look like a human face ...

The trick is to focus your eyes on the edges where the border of white of the coral meets the black of the background, and you will see a profile emerging...

The piece of coral has not been altered or touched -up in any way. This is as fresh as it was collected from the sea.

The technique used here is Silhouette…

Hope you enjoy this form as mush as I do.

Cheers
----------------------------------------------------
A Silhouette is an outline of an object against the light, commonly a portrait in black. The term usually refers to the side view of the head.
The historical precedents of silhouettes are often attributed to the profile images of the ancient tomb walls of Egypt and the vases of Greece. They were also used widely in antique coins and medallions.
Silhouettes became popular in the 18th and 19th centuries because this artform held many advantages over other forms of portrait-making. The most significant being the expense..
Auguste Amant Constant Fidele Edouart is credited with popularizing the term 'silhouette' when he came from France to England in the early 19th century. The earliest known silhouette is from late 17th century England.

Hello Iris, :)

Hmm, interesting subject! I can see a human face in it for sure, well done on creating a silhouette! Good sharpness and detail, the lighting turned out well for you too! Keep up the good work!

Ange
