For millions of years, the mighty volcanoes of the Central Anatolian Plateau erupted and spewed their contents across the land that would become a cradle of civilization. The alien landscape still exists unlike anything else I have ever seen.
In this image, we see the cone shapes starting to erode out of the mountain. Many of these are free standing elsewhere and have been carved out for at least the last 3000 years for shelter, churches and pigeon homes. |
