The Pond

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
“The Pond” is the name of this photograph and it was taken on a walk towards Petty Harbor. In fact, this pond is between Kilbride and Petty Harbor.
It was a very still morning and mosquitos were plentiful and very hungry. Every time I stopped to take a photo, the mosquitoes came in for the kill. Needless to say, I quickly took photographs and left before I became anemic.
The scenery is fantastic but without wind the foolhardy mosquitoes drew blood quickly. For every mosquito I killed, ten took his place.
This photograph was cropped, change to black and white and saved for the web. |

I like the idea for your photo, Jim.. You have some good values in it. I think it might be a stronger composition if some of the top and maybe even the left were cropped. Also it may have been more interesting if the inlet at the end of the pond was not blocked by a cattail. The viewer would then be more easily drawn into the scene. Of course these things are always easier to spot on the computer screen that in the field! Thanks for sharing.
Evelynn : )
Hello Jim,
Effective low POV and good framing give a very pleasing image!
Agree with Evelynn on cropping, won't loose anything if you cut a good inch in the top and it will give better balance between land/sky...
