[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
“Mating” Is the name of this photograph and it shows a male depositing sperm into the upper abdomen of the female behind the head. I was extremely lucky to catch this action. While I was walking I heard this tremendous buzzing in the grass and locally with camera in hand I took several macro shots, this being one, of the mating ritual of the dragonfly.
I had to be extremely careful as not to disturb this joyous moment. According to the sound a lot of energy is expended during mating. The fill in flash was used during shooting. Despite having a bad back, I gladly bent over and carefully photographed of these wonderful creatures without too much pain.But
