“Pulsatilla vulgaris” is the name of this photograph and it was taken on one of my many visits to Memorial University’s Botanical Gardens. This flower is situated in herbal garden which contains many older remedies for medical complaints. In this particular case, this plant is known to be effective in treating all pain involving the reproductive organs, and is especially noted for treating menstrual pain.
If you can bottle this effective treatment, a fortune maybe made? It is consideration.
The homeopathic section on the web gives following information:
Pulsatilla vulgaris (Pasque flower) - It is taken internally in the treatment of pre-menstrual syndrome, inflammations of the reproductive organs, tension headaches, neuralgia, insomnia, hyperactivity, bacterial skin infections, septicaemia, spasmodic coughs in asthma, whooping cough and bronchitis. Externally, it is used to treat eye conditions such as diseases of the retina, senile cataract and glaucoma. In homeopathy, the plant is considered to be specific in the treatment of measles. It is also used for treating nettle rash, toothache, earache and bilious indigestion. This remedy should be used with caution, excessive doses cause diarrhea and vomiting. It should not be prescribed to patients with colds. The plant is slightly toxic; the toxins are dissipated by heat or by drying the plant. Repeated handling of the plant can cause skin irritation in some people.
It appears to be a truly wonder plant. |

I have a theme with the title "My purple obsession". I have added this beautiful flower to that collection. The hair on the leaves adds a special touch to this photo. A real nice shot. The violet colour of the flower and the yellow anthers makes an excellent combination. Lovely portrait, presented in a striking manner. The way you blurred out the blossoms and the flowers in the back is really eye-catching.I agree with yourlast line in your note:
