| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
“Canadian Tiger Swallowtail” is the name of this photo taken on a walk in Bowring Park Trail. This beautiful creature was flying around and landed briefly on these rocks. Having no macro lens, I shot in the aperture mode using raw with f 2.8 and a focal length of 195 MM. It is not as sharp and I would like, and I purposely did not any additional sharpening.
Extra practice is the key.
Photograph was crop in raw and converted to Jpeg.
I do not know the type of butterfly?
With some additional research it is:
Canadian Tiger Swallowtail
(Papilio canadensis)
Family: Parnassians and Swallowtails (Papilionidae)
Subfamily: Swallowtails (Papilioninae)
Identification: Smaller than Eastern or Western Tiger Swallowtails. Upperside of forewing with relatively broad black stripes; underside with marginal yellow spots merged into continuous band. Hindwing with numerous orange scales. Extremely rare black female form.
