I would be very excited to have been able to take this picture. Those birds are rare for me as I saw one only once and it was before I had my 100-400mm. This is a good one with nice compo, beautiful colors and composition. I like this natural exposure and catch light. Well done and TFS!

Hello Sky -

This is a very nice composition of a lovely bird. To me, the bird looks a touch soft while the nearest branch looks sharply in focus, almost like the branch captured the AF rather than the bird. IMO, the lighting is working against you as there is very little definition in the dark head area. An artificial catch light in the eye might help a touch. Some may say this is a cheat but with this lighting and the very dark head it would be a help.

Nicely captured, Sky. You did a great job with the bird, and the detail seems OK (given the lack of light). I would suggest a square crop to eliminate some of the right side, though).

Hello Sky,
Beautifully composed shot, with the subject offset to the left. I particularly like the scale of colours with the subject being the only colourful object and with the twigs and BG all in grey. This gives it more emphasis.

j'ai aperçu dans mon jardin hier un oiseau orangé un peu comme celui-la mais pas eu le temps de le prendre(snif).
le votre est joli,même si l'oeil ne ressort pas beaucoup a cause de la couleur de la tête.

Definaly worth sharing, I love these birds. Their call is so very beautiful, the color a bonus! We have a pair of them feeding at the neighbors so I get to hear them and occassionaly get a glimpse too. I like the shot the stark branches just make the beautiful colors stand out more..:o)TFS
