* This species is a long-distance migrant, wintering as far south as Tierra del Fuego. Much of the mortality of first year Sanderlings occurs on migration.

* Sanderlings fly and feed in compact flocks, and will more often run away than fly when approached closely.

Hi Paul

Good study of the sanderling, we get them in Australia too, though ours come from Siberia. Nevertheless its a bloody long way to fly year after year.
Good sharpness and composition. I like teh POV too.
