Great Blue Heron fishing - evening light
Done at Osprey Marsh Mississauga

Ardea herodias Order CICONIIFORMES - Family ARDEIDAE
Other Names
Grande Héron (French)
Garza morena, Garza blanca granda, Gallinaza (Spanish)

-Great Blue Herons congregate at fish hatcheries, creating potential problems for the fish farmers. A study found that herons ate mostly diseased fish that would have died shortly anyway. Sick fish spent more time near the surface of the water where they were more vulnerable to the herons.

Hi Mario,
this is a superb shot of the heron, a connoisseur's type of photo,to be savored slowly and enjoyed.I have always wanted to get such a shot for my own collection as your photo is first rate all the way!You have great colour and clear focus with a dynamic pose ,what with that caught fish and the water drops. The colour is first rate as well and you use the 1D very well and soon I'll have one as well.If there is one thing I could critique for this photo and that would be the field of depth could be greater as f/6.3 could of been say f/8 or 9 and you will of still got a cracker of a shot but as it is,very beautiful and please keep them coming . Bob
