Common Goldeneye
Bucephala clangula Order ANSERIFORMES - Family ANATIDAE - Subfamily Anatinae

Done in Tommy Thomson Park – Lake Ontario in a gloomy and wet day with freezing rain and drizzle – but beautiful and productive as nature trip.

The black-and-white Common Goldeneye is one of the last ducks to migrate south in fall. It often will winter as far north as open water permits.

Description

Medium-sized diving duck.
Chunky body.
Large head.
Male white with black back and head, and circular white spot on face.

Size: 40-51 cm (16-20 in)
Wingspan: 77-83 cm (30-33 in)
Weight: 600-1300 g (21.18-45.89 ounces)

highlight and the shadow of the duck and a excellent contrast

As the same colours of ths duck matches with this season.
The photo really reflects the cold and wet day there, and some wind also by the size of the waves.
I like the composition made with the other duck at the background.

Your weather sounds wonderful (lol) but this is a great winter shot of the goldeneye. I like the low down POV.
Excellent sharpness and composition. You did a great job with the expsure too, I know b&w birds can be quite difficult in low light conditions.
