[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
hello friends, today i did photos of 2 different
Northern Saw-whet Owls, one was sleeping
and i got the other one with open eyes and a
eye-contact with me, i'll post them another day,

today i also did another in-flight shot
of a small bird, the American Tree Sparrow,
it will be in my series of in-flight photos

but for my today's posting i decide to come
with this photo of the Snow Bunting in-flight,
this photo was shot last december, i was with
my small Point & Shoot Nikon Coolpix P60,
i did not have choice to not give a blur to the
background to remove the digital noise

« During open winters when snowfall is light they remain
on the coastal lowlands throughout the season and,
because such areas are usually remote from human thoroughfares,
few people know of their presence. When storms of mid-winter
bring heavy snow they suddenly appear about our withered gardens
and weed-infested fields, where they feed on the seeds of taller
plants that protrude above the snow. At such times their coming
never fails to excite comment from observers who, assuming that
the "snow-birds" have just flown here from the northland, marvel at
how they so accurately time their arrival with that of the heavy snow.

When seen in flight they are usually in loose flocks drifting
over the countryside like scattered snowflakes, often mingled
with Horned Larks, from which they are distinguishable
by their lighter colours and the large area of white on their wings.

The buntings moult their buff and white winter plumage during
their journey north. By the time they reach the treeless wastes
of the arctic tundra to breed under the glare of continuous daylight,
their plumage has changed to a sharply contrasting black and white. »

This is an interesting technique which some have used professionally many times...and it get the point...the object at one far side with the width long and leave one wondering...as if a minor chord in music awaiting completion in the finale' which is usually a major chord. Used in music and used same in art form..Well done!

Your dedication to nature photography is amazing. The work you produce with a point and shoot is inspiring. These are not easy shots at all and yet you keep on producing very good shots. Your patience must be one of a kind. (I know how many shots I miss with a DSLR and I wouldn't wanna think how many you've missed because of equipment issues....)

Hello Asbed,
With this in-flight capture of a Snow Bunting you show once again you ability to take fine in-flight shots of small birds. But here you also give us a composition to make the viewer wonder: is the bird going to turn to fly across the picture? The composition somehow suggests that it is!

Hi Asbed,

The Snow Bunting looks wonderful flying up there over the water. An interesting composition showing us where you take some of your pictures. Wish I had a river or lake here! You captured the bird in a great pose - I love the wing positions. He may be small but we can see details of his face and wings.

Hi Asbed

The bird is perfectly frozen in flight but I also like the whole composition. To me the space works well here and I love the cold blue colour tones. Lovely winter scene
