In the first picture at left we could see the Brown Creeper on is back …
in the second picture at right we see it on is side …

Brown Creeper has streaked brown plumage, providing very good camouflage. Its mottled feathers make it indistinguishable when on the bark, see the left picture.

Long, stiff tail is reddish-brown and used as a prop.

Male and female look alike, but male is slightly larger with longer bill.

Brown Creeper is resident in most of its range, but northern populations migrate south for the winter, except in high mountains regions.

The bird starts at the base of the tree, following a spiral course upwards, and encircling the trunk several times on its way to the top. Once the bird is high up in the tree, it flies down to the base of another tree and repeats its ascension.

Brown Creeper's populations are listed as endangered or threatened in several states. They are threatened by habitat loss and degradation of their breeding range, and disappearance of large wooded areas.

Size : 4-6 inches
Wingspan 7-8 inches
Weight: 0.16-0.32 once
Longevity : 4 years

Interesting to see how it blends so well with the bark.

Bravo
Marie

Hello Donald,
Amazing to see this bird disappears on tree bark. Thanks for the comparison. Very well done.

Hello Donald

This is an exceptionally good example of camouflage and i couldn't think of any other way of showing it better.
I love the 2 POVs you took these shots from and the charming colors of both of the photos.
Nice details and good DOFs, too, with fine composition on both.
Wonderful work!

Bravo and TFS

This was a very good idea. It took me awhile to see the bird at first. I'm amazed it stuck around for you to get the other shot.
Good work.

Salut Donald !

Claude
