Hi Eric,
It looks unusual because of the grey backgound.(was it snow?) Great focus on the eye and beack of the eagle, good compositon. The eye looks special, with sparkles.

You have filled the frame well,the composition is lovely.
The colours and contrast are excellent.
Very good plumage detail and definition.
