Spring is in the air, in fact it is much warmer than it should be at this time of the year. Sunshine, beautiful weather around 25 degrees Celsius, no clouds in the sky. Wow. Yet, the snow hasn't melted completely and we still cannot walk on the backyard... patches of grass have appeared but we have to go through ice, water and snow to get there. The plants are getting uncovered, wow!

The many juncos migrating are still around but I stopped filling the feeders a little bit because the cats hunt too much for my taste... and the juncos'.

Here, you see three of them feeding happily in the sunshine, in the snow. It is such a terrific feeling to be warm and in the snow all at once, I really like it! On this picture, the two at the right are males, I'm almost sure, but the one on the left, I cannot say. The females Dark-eyed Juncos are usually lighter grey than the males. I played a little with the cropping and the frame, just for a change and do something different than the normal frames we are used to.

I do not take much pictures these days because I cannot go walk easily because of snow. I spend my days on the balcony or I go see the patches of grass where some parts of the garden starts showing. I bring the little dog who just loves to walk but gets so dirty!

Tomorrow we will go to the Chutes Monte-à-Peine in St-Jean-de-Matha, the same as the one on the picture I posted some months ago related to the melting of snow. I hope we will be able to reach the trails leading to the fall.

In the meantime, have a super evening or night!

bonjour Francine

I really like the panorama style presentation. Juncos are a very fine bird and seen well in the snow here....I am sorry you still have snow, but it is Quebec after all...I have camped there as a child in snows...but now that I think of it...I enjoy the memory more than the wish to do it again...but this is a fine representation of this bird in your area...Tres!

Hi Francine,
what a nice note you have with this well photoed picture.I like these birds very much and see them here as well and they are one of the very few birds I know that have pink coloured beaks and they show up well in this sharp and naturally coloured shot. Thanks for this view. Bob

Hi Francine,

good composition of the the 3 birds.
In the Netherlands still 15-17 degrees Celcius.
I don't know these birds!
regards Gert

Bonjour Francine!

Bonnes salutations

Hi Francine

A lovely well framed shor. The composition and tones remind me of an elegant Japanese watercolour.

Hi Francine, nice capture of these Juncos. I like your format, and your timing was good. It looks like the two on the left are talking, while the one on the right listens. Colour is good, and your textures seen on the birds and snow excellent.

Thanks, John

Hi Francine,

Very nicely composed picture of Juncos with three nice poses, sharp details, nice low POV, good colours and lighting.

Hello Francine,
What a cheerful looking scene, it even looks warm. Great depth of field, colors and focus. Very lovely image Francine, thank you for sharing. Spring and dogs equal WORK, muddy feet and beaware of ticks.
