[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Northern Meadow-Sweet pretty flower was found in my village, where I usually walk the dog. In French, the name is Spirée à larges feuilles (Spiraea alba Du Roi var. latifolia (Aiton) Dippel)or Thé du Canada (Canada Tea). You can find this bush up to 53 degrees of latitude in Québec and in the Maritime Provinces.

It is incredible the various species to be found when one walks with a dog. All along the road or trail, or even a sidewalk, you may find all kind of plants and flowers, changing from day to day, metamorphosing untile giving its ultimate to life, its seeds.

this shrub gives small fruits but I couldn't find much information on Internet, or when I did, it wasn't clear whether the species was the good one. I'd rather refrain myself than give you bad information. But I read that this species is endangered in some states on the east coast of the US but it seems ok in Québec, even a common plant and thus is in not an endangered species here. It also seems to grow in various environment, from dry to humid places, on the edge of woods and the shore of lakes or rivers. Where I took the photograph, it is a small marsh right by the lake.

I haven't taken many pictures this winter, except for dog pictures. This is why I am always posting plants from my archives and I take the opportunity to show you a virtual herbal of the plants in my area. The more you look around you, the more you find diversity. Knowledge widens the mind.

Have a good day!

Francine

Hello Francine,
Summer must be a truly delightful time in your part of the world -- going by the beauty of these wild flowers you found while walking your dog. You are right in asserting that bio-diversity is at your doorstep, provided you keep your eyes and mind open.
This is an excellent image in which you have used the light very judiciously. Just the right kind of exposure -- neither too light nor too dark. The colours on these flowers are so gentle and beautiful.
Well, it's going to be summer soon, so wish you all the joys of it.
Regards.
Ram

Bonjour Francine,
