[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This beautiful flower, called Himalayan Balsam, Himalayan Touch-me-not and many other names (Impatiente glanduleuse in French), has its origins in Asia. I have read on some web sites that it originates from Himalayas and others say from Japan. It has been introduced in European countries and North America for the gardens but it escaped and is now becoming a problem in many countries.

I am sure many of you will recognize this pretty flower as being too abundant and invasive in some areas. The thing is that the seeds, when mature, pop and hundreds of seeds at once are propulsed away, fall into streams, rivers and propagate at a scary speeds.

In the UK, some organisms aim to exterminate it and the concern is spreading as well in the US and some parts of Canada.

This beautiful specimen was growing by the presbitary of the small church of the village. Beware!!!! It is spreading like crazy but to my eye, remains truly beautiful.

Have a good day!

Francine

Hi Francine!

Your picture is superb, the flower just beautiful. I like the pastel colours and the sensual shapes very much. But your picture and the notes have another value: they show us, once more, that the problems and troubles in nature are caused by the humans...

Kind regards

Markus

Hello Francine, My neighbor. For a moment I thought it was orchid. But reading the note it is different. The colors are beautiful. Lovely tones and the the buds openingup is having a superb effect here. Ganesh

Hello Francine
it's an elegant composition for this Himalayan Balsam, with fine details, very soft colors and great sharpness.
Very interesting the soft background and the leaf position on the left giving more depth to thi great shot.

Hello Francine,

You have made a fine photo with a sensible composition. Colors are delicate and there is a pleasent contrast between flower and leaf. You have mentioned very well that this plant can be invasive. I saw it aslo in my region growing in the wild, on significant areas.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hola Francine,

Hi Francine.
First of all thanks for your kindness and decision to mark me as favorite TN-member. It is great honor for me. These days I worked hardly preparing to business trip (I will go tomorrow morning) and could not visit TN.

I like this art shot so much. Pictured subject is selected perfectly. Both nice leaf and charming flower create a wonderful composition. Fine BG strengthens the impression a lot. Exposure, lights and colours are wonderful as well as combination of sharpness and smoothness. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

Hi Francine,

A beautiful image, nice composition and color, with sharp detail. I wasn't aware that there was an exotic, invasive species of Impatiens, so I've learned something too. While it's certainly attractive, I hope it doesn't make it to my neck of the woods, we have enough problems with invasive plant species here already. :-)

Thanks,
John
