[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I am ending with this post the philosophical series inspired by a magnificent sunset on the lake. One has to imagine being immerged in snow for eight months in a row and suddenly, one evening while walking, the sunset is magical, exactly like the ones we see in summer when it's warm. Here, it is still early spring and the spring flowers are only beginning to bloom. After many months without a warm, golden and glowing sunset over the water, I tend to get out of my mind and philosophize. My last post was about it and what I meant, truly, is that life is in essence cycles, from the tiny cycle of the life of an insect to the huge cycles of cosmogonical Hindouism lasting hundreds of thousand years. We human live in a microcosm and macrocosm all at once. Sometimes, I get way over myself and think too much.

But to end the story now, I also have a series of the sunsetting over the lake, as seen by myself through the branches of the small wood where I walk along the shore. Where I saw the meeting of the Mallard and the Merganser. The following post where the Merganser is on its own, flowing in front of three birch trees seemingly in rythm with the bird. Which reminded me of the cycles of our own lives, the cycle of the seasons and so on. It never ends it seems.

This is a thuya who is probably old. Here, the trees don't get too big like in the southern latitude because in winter they stop growing. This thuya has roots as big as its trunk, and it is holding with so much power in the ground, holding the tree reflecting all day, all night and endlessly over the surface of the lake. Not only it has to be really strong but it probably will live a very long time as the strength required to have grown like this is a statement for longevity I think.

The sunset was superb. I tricked a little bit and took out a lot of contrast and added saturation to reinforce the gold shining through the tiny foliage of the thuya. You see it here in glory.

Hi Francine,

A beautiful sunset seen through the Thuya tree. I have never seen golden water such as this. Just wonderful with the silhouettes of the leaves. Living where I do I just can't relate to eight months of snow. We have the opposite problem - six months of triple digit temperatures which has just started this week!

Lovely notes..thought provoking!
The scene moves me more after reading the notes.
There is something bittersweet about a sunset, isn't there?
Beautiful photo.

There is a time in nature when patterns of organic energy or Wu-li...is defined in reflective moments of relaxing quality. Nature is about calmness and observation and beauty...you have captured well with great words..

Bonjour Francine,
What a fine way to capture a sunset: by its reflection on calm water seen through the silhouted branch of a Thuja tree. not only that, the golden colours are well framed by the reflection of that branch to make this a beautiful image.
Merveilleuse ma amie et merci pour le partage,
Ivan

Hi Francine.
Lovely and well illustrated story about sunset on the lake. Last shot is so cute as previous pictures. However, shooting condition were more difficult and you managed to create a nice picture despite this fact. Very nice composition and pattern created by tree branches, amazing reproduction of the lake surface and sunbeams through the branches. Thanks and kind wishes.
Alexei.

This is a beautiful sunset; the mood is serene. It's a place to go to contemplate, muse, or just get in touch with nature. There are many emotions that I can feel slide through my mind while gazing at this capture. Also, I love your notes, but that is par for the course with you!

Bonjour Francine !
