Hello, I am back today with another indigenous plant growing a lot around here, it is the Trout Lily (Erythrone d'Amérique ou ail doux) which is a common plant in Quebec. It blossoms early spring. I was amazed to see how many flowers there were on that day, it is incredible. I also noticed that the flowers don't last very long, contrary to the trilliums who are still around (mainly the trillium undulatum).

The village of St-Alphonse-Rodriguez is in the middle of the forest. It is also the last village that is "sweet and civilized". As soon as you go higher in the mountains, there are villages but life is more rough, it is less populated and the climate is tougher than here, even within a fifteen minutes ride of distance, just because of the elevation. It is not that high yet it makes a big difference. St-Côme which is 15 minutes from here is colder, they have much more black flies (the tiny ones that sting so bad) and the flies last the whole summer, contrary to here where we have them up to the end of June.

This spring, I am fascinated with all the plants growing around here in the village. There are trails that I can take to walk, in the woods, and where the flowers bloom continuously these days. Yesterday, I found a single Ladyslipper. I shall go back and take pictures when it is blossomed, and there are also so many other plants. It is beautiful, it lifts me up so high, there is so much beauty in nature.

I hope you enjoy this picture. Here is a link where there is some information.

I will also post in workshop a small colony and you will see a mixture of wild tiny violets and trout lilies. Have a wonderful weekend!

Francine

P/S I will come back and critique later during the day.

HEy Francine!
It's soooooooooooo nice to have you back!
I was fearing that you'd done the disappearing act, too!
So it's a relief to have such a wonderful person like you back!
As usual, this is an amazing composition!
But I am surprised that you have small black flies that bite!
I didnot know flies bite!
We have only mosquitoes that sting here, and that seems bad enough!
Take care, my friend!
Goldy

I have seen some locations where last winters fallen leaves almost appear to be untouched by the harsh winter..I see it here and also HERE at my location...and yes we do have some unusual plants popping up in the middle of nowhere....Native Americans lived here hundreds of years before us..and I cannot imagine any modern day homesteader planting in the wilderness...so who knows the starts...but this is clearly a new one for me!

Hi Francine . This is a very close macro shot of this Trout Lily . You have taken it with fine detail and colours. Good to see you again. well done TFS.
Nick..

At first I thought this fine flower was an avalanche lily, which is a common alpine lily out in these parts. My only real nit about the image is the distracting bright sunlight in the background.
I know that sometimes such backgrounds are unavoidable, so what I do sometimes is take a piece of cloth to use as a background which can be solid colour or patterned; whichever you prefer.

Hi Francine,

A fine posting, very nice, sharp image of this attractive flower, and an excellent note. Good depth of field has the flower almost entirely in sharp focus, not an easy thing to do sometimes.

I didn't get out into the woods when they were blooming this year, so seeing your photo helps make up for that.

Thanks,
John

Hi Francine.
You have presented this amazing flower very well. Its colouration and other charming details are reproduced skillfully. Natural surrounding being blurred nicely supplements the fine flower excellently. Well done and TFS.
Alexei.

Hi Francine,
such a lovely natural flower well shot in its real surroundings. The yellow stands out beautifully against a well lit forest.
The superbs details and sharpness is really magnificent here.
Brilliant presentation.

Foozi

Bonjour Francine,

Hello Francine,
It's hard to believe that you find such beautiful Lilies growing in the wild near your home! They're really gorgeous and I love the spotted leaves. I like the low POV you've used here and the group looks very beautiful too. Great sharpness and lovely colours too.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Saludos: Josep Ignasi.
