The world would be a lot messier place if not for seagulls. Ivar Haglund, the famous Seattle restauranteur, loved these birds and erected a monument to them outside his Ivar's Acres of Clams (not to be confused with the fast-food chain of the same name, also founded by Ivar) on Seattle's waterfront.

Ivar's, the fast-food chain, is nothing at all like the fabulous Ivar's restaurants located in Seattle, by the way.
