[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Gopher is one of the most famous beings around Rockies. This photo was taken at the Moraine lake shore,Banff national park,Alberta,Canada.He looks so important,hosting lots of people that came to see the lake that I could not miss this opportunity to take a shot. His whole image is saying - "I am your host for today,please,welcome to my environment,Dear Honored Guests".
You could even come as close as 2 meters to take a picture and he was still,without any fear or wish to run away (usually they are very carefull and do not let You come close).

Overall nice shot, but you could improve the composition by moving him one third to the left. The background works very well. Gary

Hi Mike,

Boy this little guy looks like he really is holding court, certainly a longer lens would have got you closer, and enhanced the shot, but the background works really well with a good reflection of the Pine Trees top left, but I love that pose, nice work mate,

what a funny subject. only wish that this be more closer.

He is beautiful and in a lovely pose.
I do not find him too small, as the surrounding has its part in creating the proud effect.
Indeed the composition would have been beter if he wasn't centered.

This is a Golden-mantled ground squirrel....and he looks like he's storing a good amount of fat for his winter hibernation. I like the way he's perched on the rock watching you. Very cute.

Hi Mike,
you have found a mini Buddha! looks like itīs meditating or something.
I really like this pic, the POV and the soft light. You can see all the environment: lake, forest, rocks and animals.
I donīt agree with the idea of moving it to one side of the pic, I think that the subject is the squirrel and the idea is to show it like the big host.
