Hello Janice,
I also like the reflections, however I like the strength of the boulder in the water as it holds the composition down into the scene instead of the reflections floating in air.

I like the abstract painting like water reflection that is very nicely captured with a great placement of rock protruding out of the water and casting a reflection of its own.

Hello My Dear Friend,
Simply elegant image a real work of art. The reflections in the water are outstanding making it look as though it were a painting. The composition is wonderful with the shore, log and rock leading ones eye into the colorful reflections. The water is so clear the sunken logs are easy to see in the shallows.
May to approaching New Year bring you great health, happiness and all your canoe trips have splendid weather and great fun.

This is beautiful,sometimes the beauty can lie in what we don't see and is merely a reflection.
The slight ripples in the water create that impressionist like paint brush stroke.
Lovely light and colour.
The rock,anchors the reality of what we are seeing.
Well composed.

Hi Janice,
This is a real stunner. I love how the water has distorted the reflection of the trees. It gave the photo such a wonderful soft feel and actually made it a piece of art. The placement of the rock is perfect and gives great balance to the compsition. This is a photo I would have loved to have made myself.

This one is really interesting Janice. It is one of those shots that will stick in my memory because of it's unique approach. The rock and composition (mostly diagonal) are very nice. I like the details of the tree and rock in the fg and the abstract aspects of the bg. All in all, this is a great image.

Could the image be improved? Maybe. I'm thinking the balance between the fg and bg is unnerving (which may be good and may be the whole thing that I like about the image). Or the bg may be a bit too strong, and I wonder if cropping a bit from the top and right might help bring the rock and little trees into better balance. Or maybe the light on the bg was a bit too strong and indirect light on the bg would work better (at a different time of day, or you might have just used your flash). I don't know, but this is such a strong image it might be worth thinking about some more, especially if you can go back to this place. Lake Louise isn't too far away, it might be worth trying to return in the morining (your exif says it was taken at 3:30 pm.) I think you might have a sellable image here.

P.S. Yes, I saw y'all had your -20 stretch already. Lethbridge apparently got a lot of snow, esp for Jan. We're enjoying the 20-something days here. Though I think my body still feels out of sync with the seasons. I'm not sure it will be better when we return or confuse my body again.

Hi Janice,
Looking at this picture is easy to understand what the principles of the impressionism are.
You've got a fantastic effect on that reflection, a very artistic presentation.
I like a lot the composition chosen, with the stone as the center of interest in the proper place.

Me encantó esa imagen, muy original, solo compuesta por los reflejos en el agua, que parecen toscas pinceladas verdes y esa roca para romper la monotonía. Muy bien, solo le daría un poco más de contraste o saturación

Hi Janice!

I notice that you are back on TN and I'm happy about this. I then went through your gallery again and realized that I have missed this beauty. Your picture is in fact a magnificent impressionist painting. The reflections, slightly blurred by the tiny waves, simply are superb. I also like the colours very much and the rock gives the picture the necessary depth of view.
