"Mt. Victoria Against the Sun."

You may find the "Title" to be strange sounding.

Yes. Yes it is.

This image was registered on 14th. October 2006 at about 17:00 hours. We, the wife & self, were the last ones at Plain 6 Glaciers that day. It was a beautiful day in Calgary, sunny & bright. It was past 01:00 hours when we decided to hear the sounds of the BOMBS
created by nature at Lake Louise, with close special effects at Plain 6 Glaciers. By 5 p.m. we were at the bottom of Mt. Victoria in those beautiful Rocky Mountains. Manificient views surrounded us; we were lost in bewilderment. Could not register Mt. Victoria. The sun was in our eyes. Had forgotten my sun shades in the car. Deep saddness 'cause I could not "shoot" Mt. Victoria directly.

Out of no where these dark clouds roll by. What luck.!!! So, here you are: "Mt. Victoria against the Sun."

Mt. Victoria is 3464M. Has 2 glaciers, always "loaded" with ice, always sliding down the steep slopes, breaking off & creating an unbelievable sound, similar to that of a BOMB. This enormous BANG travels to about 20 Kms. radius.

In 1897 Samuel Allen was the first to ascend it.

To its left is Mt. Lefroy, 9003'. Samuel Allen & Walter Wilcox were the the first two to reach to the top.

We had to rush back before the night darkness overtook us. And, when we got down to Lake Louise it was TWILIGHT TIME. And that's how we were able to register: "A TWILIGHTED LAKE LOUISE." that was posted on TN on 2006-10-15 18:10.

On 25th. October 2006, through my own fault & ignorance of the power of comupters, I LOST MY FULL library of photos. Had given up all hope of ever seeing my work again. But thanks to a friend I've been able to retrieve about 80% of the "lost" photos.

Hence the title: " BACK in BUSINESS."

TFS...:-)

Hi Mario,
Great to see you made another trip to this beautiful area and such a good idea to wait for the sun to hide behind the cloud. The soft hue created by the sun is really stunning and brings out the mountians perfectly. Excellent composition and pretty good control on the exposure.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Mario,
Wonderful backlight shot that makes this mountain ever move impressive. Sun behind the clouds accentuates this awesome view. In spanish, we have a word for this: "asombroso".
Best regards,
José M.

Hi friend,
I like the work you done in this picture!
Great perspective and light!
Take care Ana:)

Hello Mario,
This is a beautiful composition!
The backlit clouds are captured very well, and makes a really fine effect together with the silhouetted trees...
Well done on difficult exposure!
Greetings,
Pablo -
