[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It looks like a real bee, but I can't see a stinger. But it doesn't seem to be a hoverfly...

Mostly I was just trying out my new lens in the backyard. I was getting tired of cleaning or cloning sensor dust, so I opted for the 18-200. Plus I want to try out the VR (OS) stuff. the VR doesn't make much of a difference at 1/1000th.

PP: A square crop, resize, frame, and slight USM.

Well your new lens certainly did well with the white flowers didn't it? The bee is reasonably sharp... perhaps needed an even faster shutter speed. the out of focus background is lovely. I'll be gone for about a month so will check out your progress with the new lens when I get back. (going to Colorado).

Hello Mike,
Nice action has been captured!
I like the motion blur in the wings, just the right amount...
The flowers come out with good details in the fine light, well composed presentation!

Hi Mike,
Great inflight capture, hard to get this well. Nice exposure of the whites, and you've stopped the action well @ 1/1000th..
I would suggest a sync flash for your flying insects. You'll be able to minus the exposure a bit, gain more DOF, and fill in the dark-side of the subject better..
Well done!
Howard

Hi Mike,
A very good job done on the whites petals!
I like very much the composition made, the blurred background looks really nice, and the inclusion of the bee complements so well the scene.
Perhaps a fill flash would be useful to get more details on the flying insect.
Well done and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hi Mike,
Congrats with the new lens. Looks like you got another great toy to play with. You did manage to get a wonderful action photo. The composition and moment are most wonderful. I am just wondering what you did to get such a fine soft focus effect in this photo.

Niek
